Let me introduce you to Healthy Dogma! The first thing I noticed about this company was the cute packaging – I was sold at first glance. Healthy Dogma had me at hello!

It just got better from there because not only are the treats yummy they are packed with ingredients that can be used as supplements to ensure your dog stays healthy. All items are made in Michigan and sourced in the USA and that is so important right now with all the recalls that are going on.

If someone asked me “What are two things about your dog you could fix in regards to their health?” I would answer with her DRY COAT and HIP DISPLASIA.

Haylie has always had a coarse coat – I’ve tried a million things out there to help soften her coat up. She has had to endure everything from sitting in the tub for 15 mins with conditioners on to some funky coat supplements she would just spit out so I decided to try something new – treats that double as supplements!

Itchin for Nirvana: Skin and Coat Supplement, ingredients: Kelp, flaxmeal, bee pollen, yeast, garlic. It’s specially formulated to rehydrate skin. Help your dog feel more comfortable and look healthier with a shiny coat and hydrated skin.

Flax seed meal is the richest plant source of antioxidant lignans and Omega-3 fatty acids that both help support an active immune system and a healthy skin and coat. The high levels of Omega-3 fatty acids in flax seed meal also help promote healthy skin and a shiny coat.

Haylie has hip dysplasia and has been on daily doses of glucosamine for years now but I get tired of trying to hide the pills in her food and so now I can give her a treat that has everything she needs for her hips and joints and are corn, wheat and soy FREE!

Cherry Hippie Barkers: ingredients: Hulled millet, whole grain oats, rye flour, tart cherry extract, olive oil, vanilla, powdered milk, glucosamine and ascorbic acid (source of Vitamin C). Contains glucosamine for dogs with hip and joint discomfort!

This chocolate lab loves peanut butter with anything so I figured these were perfect to use as training treats for Haylie. Since Fred has passed away Haylie is now the spokesdog for Hound Girl so I always have to have some yummy high value treats ready for her camera debuts and these worked perfect, almost too good because she started drooling!

Nutty Apple Barkers: ingredients: Peanuts, apples, hulled millet, 100% whole grain oats, rye flour, olive oil, vanilla, powdered milk, and Vitamin C (absorbic acid) NO Corn, Wheat or Soy!

Rejuv-A-Wafers

I take vitamins and I love giving them to haylie as well, I think that vitamins do help and that we all can use a little extra help. I use supplements for the dogs, I always admit I had no idea years ago that you would give a dog supplements but these days I try and boost up their immunity system with anything I can that isn’t a toxic.

Sun Chlorella contacted me and told me that they had re-vamped their product for dogs I jumped on the chance. More and more of my conversations with other dog owners have turned from food to answering what supplements I use. Im always willing to give something a try and Haylie is use to that with all the supplements that I try out on her for her hip dysplasia. She is the perfect tester and she is very picky so it’s a big success when she will not turn her nose up at it.

I opened the packaged and held out the Rejuv-A-Wafer and she sniffed it and took it right out of my hand and ate it with no hesitation at all, we call that a success.

The wafers do not have any artificial flavors or fillers.

When your dog is a member of your family, you want to do what’s best for them. One of the most important things to do to keep your dog healthy is to keep them active. Dogs love to play and, through many different fun activities, you can keep your dog both happy and healthy. You may even notice that your dog is better behaved. If you enjoy dogs, you may wish to look into vet tech schools. Below are some examples of fun activities to do with your dog.

Sports

There are many sports designed for dogs and their owners. One of the most popular is agility training. This involves taking your dog through an obstacle course complete with tunnels and jumps. This is good exercise for both you and your dog and helps strengthen your bond. Another sport to try is flyball, which involves your dog racing to jump over obstacles and onto a spring-loaded box that releases a tennis ball. There are many local flyball groups that can help you to get started. Disc dog is another option that is great because it uses minimal equipment; only a Frisbee and an open space are needed. You can throw the disc for your dog, and even learn special tricks. If your dog likes the water, there are many water sports for dogs including dock diving and surfing.

Play a Game

There are many fun games that you can play with your dog. Fetch is probably the most well-known game to play with your dog, and for good reason. Many dogs are born retrievers, which mean that can be easily taught to retrieve a ball or other fetching toy. Fetching also allows your dog to run, which uses different muscles than running. Remember to use rewards when training your dog to fetch. Tug-of-war is another favorite with most dogs. Try to choose a soft toy to make sure you do not damage your dog’s teeth, and make sure they do not become too aggressive. Dogs also like to play hide and seek, with humans, treats, or toys. This game helps to stimulate your pet’s mind as well as their body.

Give Back

Friendly, well-behaved dogs make perfect therapy dogs. Pet therapy involves taking your dog to a health care institution to visit with the residents. This may be in a hospital, mental health institution, or senior care setting. You’ll get to enjoy watching your dog improve people’s moods while feeling the benefits of volunteering yourself. Social workers can help make a difference, and if you wish to learn more about returning to school, consider checking out online colleges.

There is still no cure for Crohn’s.

I had my monthly infusion yesterday.

I’m so grateful for my port in my chest.

My battle with this disease still continues.

There is nothing like sitting in the infusion clinic for 4 hours drugged up and playing with instagram on my phone!

The past 4 years have been spent with monthly infusions, hospital stays and several surgeries.

I couldn’t have done it without all the support and love from everyone.

THANK YOU to each and every one of you for your love and support, I couldn’t have made it this far without you!

Do you ever see those special products that your carries that you think you can only get with a prescription? Well for a long time I use to see CET chews on my vets shelves. I never could find them in the stores, not even the dog boutiques. If you have followed Hound Girl for awhile you know im a HUGE fan of DENTAL products for dogs.

They were always flying off the shelf at the vets so I figured they must be good.

I went online and found that VetDepot carried them. When arriving at their website I noticed right away “Satisfaction Guaranteed”, how could I go wrong with that?

Satisfaction guaranteed with them means the following:

-Quality product guarantee

-Lowest price guarantee

-Site safety guarantee

-Return guarantee

-Heartworm guarantee

I think a lot of people don’t know that you don’t have to purchase your monthly medication at the vet’s office. Most vets will require you to do a yearly heartworm test if you would like to purchase products elsewhere. Unless your vet will do a price match most of the time purchasing the meds online is a big savings.

Next time you need to order some pet meds stop on by VetDepot and check out their selection!

April is our month to start getting the yard ready for the summer. We both love working in the yard. This month be brought in 3 yards of dirt to put out in the front yard and the sides of the house. The grass is great out front we just wanted to build up the soil. I can’t wait to see that yard of the month sign in the front yard!

The backyard is getting a major overhaul this summer. We are going to be laying new sod in the backyard, we have ripped out several flower beds, we just put down weed cloth and new dirt in the flower beds that we are keeping. My husband cut down some of our oak trees to let light through so our new grass will grow under the trees instead of it being a mud pit when it rains.

I bought this Cuisinart Keurig SS 700 and im in LOVE. I should have purchased this sooner! This machine-made life so easy – my husband and I have different taste when it comes to coffee so this is a breeze for us and our different tastes. Also I’m a huge cold coffee girl in the summer since its hotter than hell here in Texas and this machine can kick any Starbuck’s cold coffee’s ass.

April was a good month and the yard is looking great! There is alot of work to be done in the backyard for the month of may. Well my husband has alot of work to do – I mean someone has to make ice tea and take pictures!

Any major projects you are working on around the house or anything you plan to do soon?
