Freshpet has been at my local Petco for some time but I never knew what it really was until I stopped at the Freshpet booth at Blog Paws 2012. How could I pass up this huge log of dog food that had real chunks of vegetables in it?! I talked with the nice people from Freshpet and they were explaining that all their food is so fresh that it requires refrigeration, that is pretty fresh if you ask me! I would love to review some of the dog meal items they have so hopefully at some point I can try this out on the the girls and see how they feel about the food line.
Freshpet offers a line of American-made dog treats and that is what we were asked to review. We were sent Dog Nation Turkey Bacon to review, who doesn’t love bacon?! Bacon is a top item in the Hound Girl homestead for humans and dogs!
First thing I did when opening the package is smell it, ha. Don’t judge! I wanted to know how fresh these were and if they really smelled like bacon. SCORE it not only smelled like fresh bacon but the dogs acted like it tasted just like bacon. I couldn’t even get a picture of Stella-Bob with her Freshpet Dog Nation Turkey Bacon because she inhaled it each time! It’s been hard for a lot of dog owners to find treats that do not have ingredients from China so I can assure you that these treats are safe and American made!
Freshpet is headquartered in Secaucus, New Jersey and is the only company providing fresh, refrigerated pet food nationwide. Freshpet only uses high quality meats, poultry and fished combined with vegetables and fruits – with no preservatives or fillers like corn, wheat or by-products.
So next time you see a refrigerated section in your local Petco or grocery store stop and check out some of the great products that Freshpet offers.
