RIP Sweet Lucy

“She is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog. You are her life, her love, her leader. She will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of her heart. You owe it to her to be worthy of such devotion.”  ~~Unknown

It’s with a heavy heart today that I let you know that Sweet Lucy has crossed the rainbow bridge this past weekend.  My heart breaks for G Marie and her family, I ask that you all help me in lending support to G Marie during this tough time by stopping by her blog and giving her your condolences about the loss of her sweet girl.

Lucy hadn’t been feeling so well and was taken to the vet and some things were done to ease her comfort but her family felt that it was best to not put the ole gal through some difficult procedures that she might not make it through.  Lucy’s family brought her home and Lucy checked on her brother Beau (litter-mate- bloodhound) and her sister Abby (basset) and then she waited till her mommy left the room for a second and passed away peacefully.  I love that sweet Lucy went this way – Lucy knew it was time and didn’t want to make her family worry about making the decision when they should let her cross.  She crossed over peacefully at her home with her fur siblings.

I know that Fred was on the other side waiting for Lucy and to show her around, G Marie don’t you worry Lucy is in great hands up there and watching over you and your family.

The Rainbow Bridge Poem

Just this side of heaven is a place called the Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here,  that pet goes to the Rainbow Bridge.

There are meadows and hills for all of  our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty  of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and  vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again,  just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The  animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each  miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly  stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager  body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the  green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally  meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again.

The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the  beloved head. You look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together…
