What To Bring To BlogPaws
What To Bring To BlogPaws
At Blogpaws you get the chance to sit in amazing seminars half of the time and thanks to Petco I was able to stay at the actual hotel where the confrence was being held at. This was great for a first timer like me because I had the chance to run to my room to grab electronic chargers or anything else I might need.
Since this was my first time to Blogpaws and I had no idea what to bring while attending the seminars but after the first few seminars I figured out exactly what I needed.
1. I brought my monthly calendar – this came in handy for writing down dates of ideas I wanted to run specific posts on my blog about BlogPaws, it also was great to write down once a week to contact a new company I networked with while here.
2. The BlogPaws directory -this explained what was going on and when, this was so handy – I would go through and circle the seminars I wanted to attend for the day. It also helped me with time management between seminars, meeting with companies and leaving time to speak with vendors and bloggers.
3. Big bag – to carry all this in, not to mention all the goodies that you get. I brought a bag but this blogpaws bag was bigger and worked out great for all these itmes.
4. Laptop – I prefer to take my notes on my laptop so that was the main reason for carrying this around. The other main reason was for social media (facebook and twitter) it was easier to use on my laptop.
5. Pen – you should always have a pen handy
6. Cell Phone - mainly used as my form of communication with bloggers and companies, checking my email, to take pictures if I didnt want to get out the big camera.
7. Business Cards – this was a HUGE thing – everyone has cards – this is what you give to vendors when you meet them, you exchange this with other bloggers. This is your way to have someone remember you. There was also a “blogger exchange” table where you can leave a stack of your cards out and bloggers can exchange their cards.
8. Lipstick and mirror – My mother always told me when meeting people for the first time to always have liptstick on, Im in my thirties and still doing that.
9. Your badge holder – everyone wears this all the time, you never know who you might run into! This was also awesome because it held my business cards as well as the ones I received from people I met.
10. Breath mints – fresh breath is important!
Not pictured – my big Nikon camera, to be honest I would rather have brought my small camera that was light weight and fits into a bag easily. I was always on the go and didnt have the time to pull out my big camera all the time. I hardly took any pictures with it, most pictures were with my cell phone.

Puddles
great advice – can’t wait for next year!
(come visit us today – we have slobbery kid pictures)
Gosh, that just sounds like it was an awesome thing to go to !
Sounds super fun! Hopefully, we will go one of these years.
Your pal, Pip
We are like Pip, hopefully one day we will get to attend this big event. So excited for you to be able to attend. When will we get the tips on how to swing a sponsorship for next year? BOL Sniffs, The HoundDogs
I like that you brought lipstick, every gal should always have some handy!
Hi Hound Girl, great tips. We’re looking forward to your posts about BlogPaws.
The name badge holder was also great for holding my id card and my room key! I was afraid I would lose them if I stuck them in my back pocket! Also – those name badge holders were donated this year. The past BlogPaws events we just had normal holders. I can totally see using this new one on other occasions!
So thrilled we finally got to meet and hang out!
Love it!! That’s remarkably like my list for a Junior League conference too. Lipstick, lipstick!
I’m getting back into the lipstick habit. Your mom was very correct! So glad you had a fabulous time. g
Sounds like a grrrrreat packing list… It MUST have been a grrrrreat time from all I’m hearing.
Can’t wait to read about what you learned!!
Great to know for when I’m there next year! Yes, it’s true, I already bought my ticket!!
I’m sure you had a blast!
Heehee love Puddle’s comment!
I went back to my room about 900 times that first day. CHARGERS was my big one. With so many notes to take on the iPad and constant social media, email and texting on my phone, they were always needing some juice. Luckily the Sheraton was like the “land of a million plugs” and there was always somewhere to pop n for a quick charge between sessions.
That badge holder was absolutely perfect. I’m holding on to mine and can see myself getting good use out of it!
Sounds like you were very prepared.
I’m not sure that I’ll ever be lucky enough to attend such a cool event, but if I do, I’ll be sure to carry all of these things with me. It sounds like you were very prepared.
Can’t forget the lipstick
Benny & Lily
great advice!! The laptop is the only thing that I tend to question because for me it is an annoyance but I will prob take your advice and bring it next time.
You know what? My Mom used to say the same thing to me about lipstick!
You have a great list! I downloaded the BlogPaws app on my phone so I didn’t have to carry the schedule around with me. I saw just about everyone there with iPads, and I’m really hoping somehow I can get my hands on one in the near future. I had my laptop with me, but I barely had any time to get online with it. I just used the phone like crazy. I always have to have powder and lipstick with me, too! lol
What a great list. I’m so happy that you’re sharing this whole experience with us. I love conferences…or any type of learning environment, so I always find posts like this interesting.
Good thinkin’! Sounds like you were well prepared and will no doubt entertain us with lots of insights!
I had no idea there was a conference for bloggers. That must have been 10 tons of fun.
I guess you have to leave your special ‘paws’ at home when you attend?!!
Hugs Madi and Mom
My goodness! No wonder you needed a big bag!
I get the lippy bit. I can’t go out to collect my trash cans from the kerb without a little smudge. You never know. Some garbos are hotties
BlogPaws sounds a serious affair. Who would have thought a conference of pet bloggers would be so business like? Until I read the various posts making the rounds at the moment, I thought BlogPaws was like a Woodstock for dogs. Happy people wearing sensible shoes and dogs mingling, playing, eating good stuff, shopping for doggy accessories and exchanging training tips. Obviously not!
I have had Zoie 8 months tomorrow and today we had our first thunder storm!! Zoie is scared to death of thunder and lightening. She wanted to stay between my legs all through the storm. Then tonight we went out to walk and there was fireworks you could hear so she was too afraid to walk and she wouldn’t let me walk either. She was glued to me!!
I so wish I could attend – we don’t have anything like this here in South Africa. Definitely time to start looking into starting something.
Good advice! Where is BlogPaws going to be next year? I really wanted to go last year or the year before when it was in the DC area…just a 3-4 hour drive for me!
Great post! I have been wanting to attend BlogPaws the past two years and was disappointed I missed it again this year. I appreciate your information and really look forward to reading what you learned and what types of seminars were held.
Great idea about lipstick! :->
K and Suka
I really appreciate this list – just saw it and it is timely for 2013 BlogPaws, too!
