She walks with swagger

Awhile back haylie came inside and couldn’t use that leg at all, she went to the vet and he could feel swelling but she would still use it so we decided no need to surgery and let’s give her down time, crate rest and aspirin. A couple of weeks went by and she was doing well so we worked our way back up to walking – we started at 5 mins and worked up in 5 min increments. She would occasionally limp around so I chalked it down to the rainy weather and would provide aspirin, I still would catch her in the backyard wrestling and chasing squirrels so I knew it wasn’t that bad.

I noticed over the weekend Haylie was shaking her back leg and then would start to limp some. Yesterday on the walk she immediately starting walking funny – almost like she had some swagger in her hips. I took her back home at about 16 mins because she was favoring her other leg too much. She ended up eating dinner on her bed because she didn’t want to get up to eat. I’m calling the vet today and it looks like we are going to have to have an x-ray and figure out if she is going to need surgery or what exactly she did. When she was injured awhile back I couldn’t walk her for about 2 weeks and I just didn’t walk Fred either because she would go nuts and get up and start jumping around as soon as she saw me change into my “walk clothes”. Fred really needs his walks so starting today this is going to be challenging – I suppose I am going to have to crate her and get ready and zoom out with Fred and take him on his walk and keep her crated.

I know she will be fine crated while we leave but it breaks my heart because she stresses so bad when we are gone.

  I hope it turns out ok…leg injuries can be scary and expensive. Do you have pet insurance?

  I have my father checking on her today – she was up moving around this morning and just will occasionaly limp so she is on bed rest all week until next thursday when she will have an xray and we can find out exactly what is going on in there. my thought that awhile back she must have sprained her kneee but now that its back she has either re-injured it or has something a little more serious.

  I dont have pet insurance – I have looked into twice but didnt feel the benefits where really worth it since my vet gives me a huge discount because he is a childhood friend.

  Do Mr and Miss B have pet insurance?
